Simply Retroclectic

Isn’t it funny how life always seems to work itself out? Little things can happen and you are amazed how everything is just right. Well that’s how we felt when we met our new model rep Kelsey from Lakewood High School. From the moment we met her we knew that she fit right in to the Mia Dolce Family, with her bright smile, unique style and bright green eyes she won us over. We wanted to share some of the images we took of her, and remind those out there that its never too late to share your unique style with us. After all retrocectic is about being you! PS Love those cowboy boots!

What does a great photograph mean to you?

Do you get excited by eclectic style and individual flair in images? Something off the beaten path yet inherently beautiful? Share your thoughts on what makes a photographic image great - describe the feeling that you get when you see an image that makes you go “wow” and why it provokes that feeling.

Oftentimes portraits only manage to capture a small facet of their subjects’ personality. A person is like a prism - complex and multifaceted - and a good image captures all of the different nuances and subtleties of the spirit in front of the lens.

We here at Mae Photography are dedicated to creating images that reflect the real inner spirit of our clients. None of that impersonal, over-posed, old school stuff - we like to create organic relationships between the subject and the final portrait. Our dream is to make sure that every one of our clients see their portraits and go “wow, I can’t believe that’s me!” It’s *your* image - let’s make it unique, fun, fab, and reflect the real you!

Attention all Juniors in High School, looking for Spokesmodels

Wanted: Model Reps

Need a fun way to earn some extra cash? Become a Model Rep for an upscale photography studio!
We are looking for Models Reps that are current High School Juniors graduating in 2010 from the following areas:

Los Alamitos, Lakewood, Cypress, Long Beach, Cerritos, Anaheim, Fullerton, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, La Mirada, Sunset Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa  (limited models per school)

Models must be:
- fashion conscious
- energetic and outgoing; personalities that shine through in images
- 5′0″ and up for girls; 5′3″ and up for guys
- active members of their school
- go through an interview process and have parental permission & guidance
- be willing to show their images to other upcoming seniors and be able to give them information about the Studio.

Compensation includes photo credits, cash and/or products for referrals. The more you book the more you earn!

Mostly we hope this will be a fun experience for you as well as a way to save some money on your senior portraits.

What is your idea of retroclectic?

What do you think of when you hear the word “retroclectic” ?

Is it something that is timeless? Stylish but with substance? Cute but quirky? Innovative yet old-school?

When we say “retroclectic” we think fun, inspired, and absolutely YOU! So give us your best definition of “retroclectic” because, like most made-up words ;), the definition is as multifaceted as the individual in question. So share your thoughts!

So my roommates and I are trying to spice up our place! What exactly spices up a place? I say it is all in the lighting but great art (photography) and a few funky finds don’t hurt either. It is definitely an art in itself to “decorate” ones place. I love it when you can tell there was some thought in how a space is organized but also when there are certain personal touches as well. I am sure there is a balance when decorating a space making it look good but without breaking the bank, making it stylish but yet cozy as well.
